Organic Valley organic milk is a completely natural milk sourced from cows that are cared for using organic methods. It goes through many strict stages, from selecting dairy breeds, methods of care, and feed sources… to the living environment and the closed production process after milking, all of which must follow the principles of organic farming.
How is Organic Valley organic milk produced?
The feed for dairy cows is the key factor determining the quality of the milk, so all feed for the cows must be grown using organic methods. The grass is completely natural, grown without pesticides, without chemical fertilizers and without genetically modified seeds (GMO).
The selection of dairy cow breeds also follows a strict process to choose cows with good health that can adapt to local environmental and climatic conditions, ensuring that the cows stay healthy and minimizing the risk of disease. This is essential to produce the best quality milk with a completely natural taste.

According to organic standards, the very first factor when raising dairy cows organically is the soil. The soil must have biological activity and contain a well-balanced level of minerals and organic matter. Healthy soil will provide high-quality feed for the herd. In addition, organic dairy farms must ensure fresh air, clean water, adequate sunlight in living areas, and free-range access for cows on natural pastures. Cows must not be permanently confined in barns so that they can move and exercise according to their natural instincts.
At the same time, the herd must be cared for in a natural way in order to help farmers avoid the use of antibiotics and harmful chemicals. Dairy farmers must also be regularly trained and updated with knowledge about organic cultivation and methods of caring for healthy dairy cows to maintain good milk yield.
An organic milk product can only be brought to market after going through a closed production process: from raw fresh milk sourced from dairy farms that follow organic methods, to processing, packaging, storage and distribution. All of these stages must strictly comply with the standards set by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and reputable global organizations in organic production such as Kosher, Tilth, etc. This process ensures that all risks of contamination by bacteria, heavy metals, or any other unauthorized physical–chemical substances are eliminated before the final products reach consumers.
